“Expecting is one way of hurting yourself.” This has been the constant mantra I’ve been quietly reciting myself since I took hold of my BDJ Box. While I’m not really a pro when it comes to beauty ‘stuff’, it’s safe to say that I – at least – know what’s in and what’s out. It became a routine for me to keep myself updated with what’s going on in the beauty industry and this made me more excited to see what’s inside of the July BDJ Box: Pure and Simple.
It was supposed to arrive on the second week of July, but due to product-related problems, the shipping of boxes was moved to a later date. “It’s okay. Maybe the box is stuffed with really cool items,” I told myself. On July 31st, I was informed that the boxes started being delivered to the bellas. Believe me, I spent an hour refreshing my Twitter timeline just to check updates on what the BDJ Box offers. At around 11 in the morning, I came across a photo on Instagram with the hashtag: #bdjbox and upon seeing the contents of the box, it felt like a bucket of cold water was poured on me. I wanted to flip my office desk and just ignore whatever it is that I’m going to receive. I was heartbroken.
I’ve waited long enough to catch a glimpse of my BDJ Box – but was it worth the wait?
The July box (left) was bigger than the usual BDJ Box. Yes, it looked enticing because it’s h-u-g-e but…I don’t know.
The world stopped for a second after I opened the box. There wasn’t any sparkle in my eyes – just like the ones you see on Anime and I’d be honest, I let out a sigh of disappointment.
Keratin Complex Travel Valet Care Kit (89ml) Php 495 – This shampoo and conditioner duo from Keratin Complex was developed to provide a gentle cleansing that will not diminish the precious nutrients of healthy hair. This sodium chloride-free formula is recommended for dry, chemically over processed or damaged hair.
Thanks to team BDJ, I can take care of my health without having the need to my go-to salon for a hair makeover. Although I haven’t heard of this particular brand, I’ve read online that it has already been featured on The View. I think I’m going to try these…soon.
Pink Sugar Fine Fragrance Mist (250ml) Php 349 – Fall in love at first spritz with Pink Sugar’s 12 various scents, grouped into their Fruity, Naughty, Dreamy, and Happy Collections. You’re sure to find one that will suit your every mood and emotion. Use it throughout the day as a refreshing way to feel and smell great!
I’m not into sweet snacks, but I go gaga over saccharine-infused scents. The smell of Love Potion is nice, but I really don’t know if it’s good enough to be my every day fragrance mist. Instead of using it, I gave it to my mum who favors sweet-scented fragrances.
Celeteque Back Acne Spray (50ml) Php 320 – Formulated with salicylic acid, which exfoliates the skin and works to reduce blemishes and acne. It also contains gluconolactone, which gently removes the build-up of dead skin cells, helping to prevent future breakout. Spray after bathing and make sure to let it dry completely.
Wow! This is probably the best thing that has ever happened to the July BDJ Box. I know that Celeteque has been a pioneer when it comes to skin care and I believe that this back acne spray would stay true to the brand’s image. Good job on this one!
Enchanted Eyeshadow Palette in Nude Eyes (6g) Php 199 – This long-wear eyeshadow palette contains three (3) shades that allow you to add depth and drama to your eyes. Swipe on the lightest shade as an overall color while using the medium shade to contour, then use the darkest shade to line your eyes.
I haven’t heard of Enchanted before but I got pretty excited after seeing the shades in this tiny compact. As most of you would know, I’m a fan of eyeshadow palettes ranging from nude to dark brown shades and I think that I will use this for special occasions.
Hygienix Hand Gel and Hygienix Hand Spray (100ml; 55ml) Php 45; Php 40 – Fight germs, while keeping your hands nourished and refreshed wherever you go; Keep your hands soft, smooth, and moisturized on the go!
Is it necessary to include products like these? I mean, these are ‘usual’ personal hygiene items, plus does it really have to be Hygienix? I have nothing against the brand, but it’s too common to be included in the box. This duo is one reason why I don’t like the current BDJ Box. Sorry.
Vitress Hair Solenn and Vitress Instant Relax (30ml both) Php 80; Php 75 – Tame curls and waves and rock a smooth, silky, shiny ‘do; Make your hair look naturally straighter and smoother.
Ugh! I can’t find the perfect words to describe how I feel towards these products being inside the box. I think it’s better for me to shut up. 🙂
Nivea Pure Effect Exfoliating Wipes, Nivea In-Shower Skin Conditioner, Nivea Anti-Perspirant Invisible Spray (20 wipes; 10ml; 35ml) Php 139; full size Php 109; full size Php 184) – Your handy cleansing and exfoliating facial wipes you can take anywhere; Replenish your skin moisture without that hot sticky feeling; Say no to cloth stains and stay protected from sweat and body odor.
Redeeming my interest for the BDJ Box are these ah-may-zing Nivea products. I’ve been a follower of the brand since I can remember and I can’t wait to use the In-Shower Skin Conditioner. Hooray on these!
If I were to judge the July 2014 BDJ Box, I’d give it a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
